The past tense is the most complex tense I teach to Elementary Students. I have gone as far as stem changing verbs and a few irregular verbs. The key is to allow for ample processing time and you know… repeat, repeat… repeat! So Regular verbs is where you begin… and they are always the most comfortable and easy to conjugate.
