The Americas, also known as America, comprise the landmass of North and South America. Sometimes considered a single continent, it’s the second largest in area and third in population. Stretching from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego, the Americas boast diverse climates and ecosystems, from tundra to rainforests. Indigenous peoples settled these lands thousands of years ago, followed by European exploration and colonization, which profoundly shaped their history and cultures. Today, the Americas are home to a vast array of nations and vibrant societies.
The Americas have has 35 independent countries and 25 dependent territories of the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, France, and the Netherlands. America can be divided in several ways but the most popular currently is North America and South America. Central America and Insular America (or the Caribbean) are part of North America.
Below I share a packet with maps to help you practice the countries of America. It does not include all the Caribbean islands due to the difficulty of their small size. In the future I will create another map specifically of this area.
